"Please just let us go, I promise we won't tell anybody." I heard the terrified voice of Ethan say. Perfect, I thought, He's just like I want him. He was still struggling, it was cute watching him and his fruitless attempts to get untied.
"Shut up," I replied, looking back at him, "Or I swear to good I will make you regret opening your mouth". I made sure that I sounded serious about my threat. It worked, as silence replaced words, at least for a while. Unsurprisingly, it didn't last more than a minute or two. I guess he mustered up the courage to ask, " What have you done with Grayson? Where is my brother?" He sounded worried... How adorable
I sighed, my reply cold and heartless, "He'll be joining us soon, I sent someone to.....round him up." I watched as he stopped struggling for a minute, soaking in this information like a sponge soaks up water. What really caught my eyes however was the look in his eyes, the conflict I have seen on more than one occasion. That mixture of worried and hope, all swirling and fighting to be the dominant emotion.
I could tell he wanted to say something, I could see it on his face, so I waited. Just like I thought, not even a second later he replied.
"Please....don't hurt him or Tyler..." his voice cracked slightly, causing me to smile a bit.
He was begging.....Pleading for his brother to be spared, how touching. I smiled walking over to the bound up male. He looked away as I approached, bad idea buddy. Crouching down beside him I turn his head, forcing him to look me in the eye.
When I spoke next, I couldn't help but smile. "Silly little Ethan.....Your brother will be joining us soon, whether you want him to or not. As long as the too of you do as your told. You'll be fine." I took in his expression, pure fear. Of what I don't fully know, could be for his brother, himself....Right now it doesn't matter. I wonder if.....
Before my thought could finish I heard a knock on the door. They're here.......
My mum always used to tell me what it's like to see your mate for the first time. She used to say that at that moment, everything around you stopped, that nothing else mattered.
And nothing else would matter. If it wasn't for the little girl clinging to my leg right now. That little girl that trusts me with her life, that beautiful little girl that made me hold on and not give up on life. That little girl, whose father is standing in front of me right now. He's my mate.
The edges of his lips curve and he looks up and down as if checking me out.
"Long time no see." Are the words that first come out of his mouth that break the silence.

We don't live in a fairy tale where every story has a happy ending though. Real world isn't that easy...if you can call a world full of mystical creatures very real.
