Detective Ranizifel "Rane" Hyde is a demon in a world where demons are owned by devils. Abandoned at a catholic children's home for non-human citizens, Rane's unclaimed status remained secret. The nuns hid his species from the outside world, disgusted by him. Shame, guilt, and the morality of humankind was pressed onto him and used as tools to mold him into an anxious mess hung up on 'goodness'. With a pathetic excuse of a conscience and an inability to feel key emotions, Rane dedicates his time to solving crimes. When a new case ends up partnering him with a divine half-angel FBI Agent named Lukys, Rane starts to wonder if maybe he's found someone who will finally help him be truly good. Azmael is a devil that's too powerful to need anyone. Him? Need a demon? No. Such things are for weaker devils who use the strength within the bond to jostle for status and power. Azmael knows about the human cult that's stirring up the police and the FBI, and he knows which devil is behind it. He could help the two officers who come to his nightclub demanding answers... but he is much more interested in holding that information and using it to lure Rane deeper into his clutches. Azmael has never seen such a repressed, confused, and lost demon in his life. Rane is deliciously tormented by his "shortcomings", not realizing that he's better than those worthless humans he aspires to be like. And that FBI nephilim trash trying to "purify" and "save" him? Azmael wants to rip his heart out. Rane is perfect the way he is, and Azmael decides he will drag Rane into the darkness of their world and claim him, body and soul. Azmael will ruin him, and he'll make sure Rane enjoys every filthy second of it, until his precious demon is reveling in the truth of who he really is.
