Maria had a good normal life, she was almost done with her residency at Saint Francis Memorial Hospital. but then that day came, the day the birds stopped chirping.
a virus breaks out all over. first all the animals just died, and then people followed soon after. but not everyone that got the virus died. some lived but the virus left their bodies weak, so a majority of the people got ill. some with cancer, some with immune system problems, some comatose  and even paralyzed. but some made it out okay. they were the lucky ones.

Elaine, a eighteen year old girl and her friends get sent to an island along with all the others who have had the virus. Elaine a quite and free spirit tries to survive life on the island. but what's the point of trying to survive if you're just going to be locked up in a cage forever. that's not living it's torture.
