Gwendolyn Davenport's life has been pretty crappy thus far. After her parents died in a freak fire when she was one, Gwen had been bounced from foster home to foster home after finally being adopted the LeSnoots. Gwen thought life had given her a break at last.
But let's be real here.
The LeSnoots want nothing to do with her-- adopting a child had just been another way to polish their already spotless reputation. Treated like a servant by the first family she had known in years, Gwen can't wait to turn 18 and finally be free. The only people that keep her sane are her quirky best friend Lola and Lola's brother Michael, the only people that Gwen actually loves.
When new boy Evan Villarreal and his family show up in town, everyone is immediately smitten with their perfect faces and perfect manners. Gwen is the only to see something icy and cold behind their porcelain masks. However, she is still strangely drawn to the alluring Evan, who seems to be hiding something dark behind his friendly façade. When a date between the two goes horribly wrong, Gwen realizes that she was right; Evan isn't who she thinks he is.
But, as she is soon to find out, neither are her best friends-- nor even herself.
