Keith was born without his soulmates first words, so everyone assumed he didn't have one and was bullied for it all throughout elementary school.
Lance had a rough childhood, he was abused by his father for 10 years until they finally were able to put him behind bars. After going through all the abuse, Lance never spoke again. His family and close friends learned sign language so they could communicate. His soulmates first words to him are, "Guess I'll get going, bye Shiro."
