Old threats are rearing their heads, the world is on the brink of destruction, and Shadow's very being is becoming something he doesn't recognize. Yet all he can think about are questions that aren't even relevant to the rising threat. When had he stopped hating every appearance of royal blue or when that annoying voice called out his name?
