When news spreads like wild fire that the new emperor, Tai Xiang. Is in search of an empress, Yu Zhen's whole family goes berserk with joy because of this 'wonderful' news, he is then summoned and is told that he and his sister, Yu Fen, will be sent to the Kingdom of Ling to 'compete' against others for the title of empress. 

His sister is displeased with the decision and decides to make an arrangement with her parents, this arrangement came about when Yu Fen said, "the idea of bringing a male to compete for the title of empress would embarrass and bring shame to the emperor!", so she requested that 
her bastard brother, as she loves to call him, dresses up as a female and must introduce himself as such.
 
They had their suspicions on the idea, what would happen if he got caught?

Sure enough they schemed up a plan, if he was found out they would say he was power hungry and was driven to obtain the benefits of being the empress and so they agree to these terms.

When the two siblings arrive at the kingdom, jealousy begins to spark in and amongst the 'competitors' as the emperor becomes a little too friendly and interested in Yu Zhen, What will the 'competitors' do? And what will the emperor do when he finds out his gorgeous empress to be, is actually a male in disguise?

Dark secrets will be exposed and liars will be punished, but will they have their happy ending, or will everything fade into a dark and bleak future?
