Due to years of torment and suffering by her peers, Eliza Cameron is determined to do all she can in order to remain in the popular clique. And that includes:

one: staying loyal to Karen Everett no matter what.
two: keeping herself in top shape.
three: never, under any circumstances, embarrassing Karen in front of a whole crowd by slapping and insulting her.

She breaks Rule Three, and is abandoned by Karen mercilessly.

When a couple of months pass, and Karen offers her a chance to return to her old life — to forget about the bad blood between them — it’s natural for Eliza to take it. She’s staying in the circle this time, and that’s a promise.

But Julian Turner creates complications that may cause her to break her promise, not to mention change her beliefs about the world.
