Izzy had been a pet since she was 10. She was chosen by her mate when she was at a pet store. James had quite a temper and would punish her many times, he'd feel guilty afterwards and she would always forgive him because he was her mate. But he took it too far and she couldn't forgive him and their mate bond broke. When he was out with his friends one night she escaped and went to the Volturi to beg for death but Aro changes her instead because he found out quickly that she was her mate.
