Emma's had a fucked up past, and even though she was forced to move to LA she is secretly grateful, hoping that if she moves there she can leave her past behind in the rotting house on the side of the road and move on. That is, until she realizes that trouble seems to follow her everywhere.
We're all used to that group of stereotyped mean rich girls dominating schools, and Emma isn't surprised when she finds that at her new school. But Emma doesn't realize that these girls that call themselves "the Scarletts" are much more than that silly stereotype.
All that Emma wants is to erase her past, she even changed her name, but after meeting the Scarletts she realizes that it's not going to be as simple as she hoped.
