Dans une ville en Afrique, Mariam, une jeune étudiante, issue d'un milieu social très très pauvre décide de se livrer au premier homme chic et choc pour sortir de la misère comme le font toutes les jeunes filles du pays. Lors de sa première sortie nocturne elle tombe sur Gaston, ministre de la République candide, qui découvre lui aussi, un monde où tous les coups sont permis pour gravir les échelons de la société, y compris vendre sont âme au diable. Si Mariam pense avoir trouvé le bonheur avec Gaston, acceptera-t-elle, elle aussi, de vendre son âme? L'amour est-il toujours vainqueur?
