Laurel is a young woman who has already been through a lot. Her story started with her dad's leaving the family, her mom's passing unexpectedly years later, and then her brother relapsing in drugs. She moves in with her boyfriend who becomes abusive, and decides she needs to escape. As she 'becomes' Laurel and grows up more, she realizes that she needs to stick close to her brother, her only family now, and that she needs to overcome the trials that life has thrown at her thus far so she can become a better version of herself. She seeks peace and normalcy and yet she's about to be far from it when she meets Ben. As she tries to mend and heal and grow, she finds herself in yet another series of problems. She grapples with many questions, doubts, and meets people who aren't planning to leave her side anytime soon.
