Acey Steel, has had a tough life, with her abusive father and her mother who only shows up once a year. But her life is about to get a whole lot tougher when she and her long time boyfriend, Quinn, get into a tragic car accident. Acey makes it out with a few broken bones, but Quinn has servere head trama and later discovers even more tragic news. Thinking about about what he would want, Acey takes it upon herself to find his real parents. Along the way she meets the guy who crashed into their car.
