Midgard is an alternate version of our world: ancient and medieval cultures thriving with technology staying in those periods. In this world, every warrior’s dream is to enter the Valhalla, the hall of the slain. But to enter the Valhalla, one must be chosen by a Valkyrie to become an Einherjar, a true warrior who has lived his life in battle. This is what most people of Midgard know and believe. Every one thousand years, Valkyries in human form are born to wait for their destined Einherjar and it is the purpose of the Valkyrie to be with the Einherjar and fight together and eventually aid the fallen warrior to Valhalla. When Valkyries are born in human form, the Battle of Vigrid is held to choose one Einherjar who gains the title Odinson, the Einherjar who will watch over Midgard for the next one thousand years until the next successor to the title is declared and then passes on to Valhalla. Stark Hildetand is a physically weak, unpopular, and timid 16-year old boy from Norway. One thing is special about him… he is a descendant of an Einherjar but he doesn’t have any desire for battle. Laira is the most popular girl in town, beautiful, strong in body, mind, and will. One thing is special about her… she is a Valkyrie. The writing of their great destiny has begun and the stakes are high. Let the Battle of Vigrid begin!
