In the dead of night, Keva and her little sister Kyler are forced from their home by an unknown force. With their parents dead, and no home to hide in, they set off to shelter. In the woods, they find the best home they can and meet the runaway Rose. But Rose has her own secrets, and her own reasons to be hidden from the world.
But although Keva's found a home, she still doesn't have the answers to her questions. Who killed her parents? And why?
With the Emperor's reign ending, and chaos enfolding on their world, Keva and Kyler don't know who's good, who's bad, or who they can trust.
