"Hey," I said, my voice a little trembling from the cold, and I wrapped my arms across my chest, my shoulders stiffening. I had not expected that it would be so cold. My fingers dug into my sleeves, and I shifted my weight from one foot to the other, trying not to shiver too obviously. Marcus didn't answer right away. He just looked at me for a second, then stepped forward. Silently, he slid off his jacket and placed it over my shoulders, and I ensnared it tighter around me immediately. All we left behind
Perhaps he will never know, but she wishes they could go back to those days, when the future seemed to be bright and there were just the two of them, and their friends, their youth, their promises. She loves him, too. But now, when happiness has faded and their promises have been broken, love seems just pointless. They don't know that love is the only thing that can save them again, as it had done once.
