Stuck in the petty quarrel of Heaven and Hell, Manson and Arlen are forced to fight each other until the end of time. Manson was a pure soul capable of suppressing Hell and Arlen was a tainted soul capable of bringing an end to the angels. After Hell stole Manson's soul Heaven stole Arlen's, out of bitter disdain for the other Heaven and Hell made them each immortal and placed them in the center of a war incapable of being won or lost.
