Everyone knows you have a soulmate. Even if you don't believe in them, you know deep in the back of your mind that there is someone in the world that will love you, and care for you, and be at your side the rest of your life.
In a time where every person is born with a unique mark on the wrist -well almost unique- your soulmate has the matching tattoo. You spend your life trying to find that one person and you will. The universe will make it happen one way or another.
But what happens when you find them and they break up with you?
Millie is just your everyday girl. She looked for her soulmate like everyone else in the world. She found him. Bram. She loved him even before they discover their tattoos match. The two hopelessly fell in love. After years of being together, the two plan to wed. One week before their wedding, he dumped her.
And told her to find someone else.
And told her not to blame herself.
And told her he isn't in pain.
And told her to move on.

In this society, everyone has a soulmate. And the way to find yours is just look. Along with a soulmate, everyone has a small tattoo on their cheek with a symbol. Some could be a star, a flower, a yinyang, a fish, or even waves. There are so many people that the symbols are almost limitless. The tattoos don't care about gender or number. There could be gay matches, and there could even be polyamorous matches. The tattoos will tingle when you are near to your sm. And they will glow if you have found only one of your sm's if your match was poly. The trick is, you don't get the tattoo until you are 16. And even if you are near your match, as long as one of you are not of age, your tattoo will not tingle. Also, they are normal tattoos (except you don't get it or choose it, it just appears) so you can get rid of it. But if you do, your sm won't die but they will get very sick. The main characters of this story, Violet West (18) and Harper Black (20), both have a flame tattoo on their cheek. They live in the same state but for 4 years Harper paniced because she couldn't find her match. She wasn't sure if it was because her sm wasn't of age yet or if her sm lived far away. For 2 years Violet also paniced but she knew that some people don't find their sm for 5-10 years after they come of age, so she wasn't as scared as Harper.
