Petronel was born in the Southern Volcanic Flats, a vast, rocky wilderness covered perpetually in a layer of thick smoke and ash. On her first mission to retrieve the scales of a demon-like monster known as an arsi, she witnesses her friend fall into the fire, and vows to avenge him.
On the other side of the Strange Continent, Adair washes ashore of the Great Desert with no recent memory of his life as a Prince of the Kingdom of Cyclonus. He, along with two other companions, must journey into the deep Desert to find a way to return home.
Blythe, the second-born son of the King, is cursed with a deadly power soon after the arrival of a messenger from a foreign land.
As tensions rise between Cyclonus and its colonies on the Strange Continent, a plot emerges, and Petra, Adair, and Blythe are caught in the middle of it.

A year has passed since Seren Marzena returned to the Night Court with her mate, Azriel. Their time of rest is coming to an end. Plans long kept silent are now being enacted.
