They say the best things in life are unplanned. But sometimes... they're the worst.
After the Blackwater catastrophe, Arthur feels the heavy weight of responsibility; being one of the gang members looked up to and relied upon to get them out of this mess, he's strained by the notion that they may not be getting out this time.
With the West slowly transformed into a civilized hellhole, they are forced to move in all directions despite the place they wanted to return to most. Grimly aware that the age of outlaws may be up, Arthur does what he can under Dutch to get money for their escape, all according to plan...
Until a detour. Stuck in a rut of her own, the independent, God-fearing, and wistful Summer Grace Monroe has been searching for her own place in life. After being scorned by lovers and in and out of jobs, she feels amiss her late twenties without a true home. She finds the most peace in her church and helping those in need, especially the local Native population. Her father, Captain Monroe, works within the Army as a voice for those being silenced. She helps others find their story, but what would be her own?
Things all seem to take a turn when fate brings a chance encounter, permanently altering whatever path her life was going to take and intertwining her destiny with that of a notorious group of outlaws - yet she would not be the only one whose path would be changed.
