A book filled with hope and fairytales, Once Upon a Time, fell on Ivy Belfrey's lap, giving her hope that both heroes and villains can have a happy ending and that she could escape her dark past.
With nothing to lose, Ivy fakes her death and travels to the west coast, in search of her inspiring author, Henry Mills, whom she discovers to be a sad little man who lost his fairytale life with Cinderella and can't seem to move on.
As both of them cross paths and heal each other, Ivy helps Henry realize he never wanted to be Cinderella's Prince Charming in the first place, and that the book he wrote hides a past life he and Ivy shared, with deep secrets they are about to unravel.
Narrated by the protagonists, Henry and Ivy, this book teaches you how we spend our lives waiting for the "perfect first sentence", but no story is perfect, it just needs to start.
