A Light in the Dark

Kaitlyn Fend talks to everyone. She has selective best friends, but everyone knows her. Mason Heveret used to have a bad boy reputation until he saw the stress it gave his single mother and he cleaned up his act. Though they seem different, they have more in common than first meets the eye. Mason's alcoholic father was drunk when his car flew off the side of a bridge two years before. Two months before, Kaitlyn's dad was hit by high-drivers and he has been in a coma since. While Mason's mother refuses to let him work (as long as he focuses on school), Kaitlyn tries to support both her and her brother by holding down two jobs. She tries not to take charity from her semi-rich aunt because of her dad's distain for doing so. Because of their two friends, Dani and Curtis, Mason and Kaitlyn are brought together and they soon realize that they are not alone. While Kaitlyn's life only seems to get worse, Mason tries his best to help her find a light in the dark.
