She sighed and inhaled the cold air of the dark room, snuggling under her covers. The only light illuminating the room was the light from the TV. Everything was going smoothly, until she heard footsteps approaching from the hallway leading to her room. Her room was at the extreme of the hallway. If she had known how things would turn out, she never would have opened the door for her drunk father to get in. It felt like her world came crashing down as he did the unthinkable. She had so many sleepless nights due to that worst night of her life. The tension in the house was brewing, but her mother was never really there as she was too busy with her career to notice the changes in her daughter or the cloud of tension that hovered around the house.
