For James Sumner, winding up in a small island thousands of nautical miles away from home was not part of the plan. But it seems that the only way to forget and move on from his failed engagement was to finally indulge his Grandmother's insistent request of having him visit her after many years.
What he did not expect is the town folks believed in mermaids, so much that he didn't know whether to believe it or laugh.
When a typhoon washed over the shores of the island bringing garbage, cargo bits, and oil spills, James and the rest of the town were tasked to clean up.
Who knew that such a disaster could warrant an encounter with a mermaid. A very injured mermaid. James didn't believe in such a thing, but he knew she needed his help.

Bile burned her throat as she coughed and all the while she was still flailing at the water, fighting the drag of shoes and clothes to keep afloat. She should kick them off-that's what you were supposed to do if you fell into the ocean with your clothes on-but she was only a dozen feet from the dock. Besides, it was her only coat. Life was pretty simple for Erik. But, the only problem is, Pearl can't breath underwater. The only way to solve the problem is to go where no mermaid has gone before- On land. PG-13 for some cussing but not a lot.
