The punishment is 5 years behind bars and not enough with that, the one who captured Alec is his very own brother, Jace Herondale. Jace has been a part of the NY police department for about a year now and even though his own sister was the victim this time, he can't choose family before his job. He swore an ode when he first got his badge and that is something he won't give up on that easy, not even for Alec. 5 years in prison may seem like an eternity and that is exactly what Alec expects it to be, but what he didn't expect was to meet Magnus Bane. He's 23 years old and arrested for murdering his very own stepfather, but the reason isn't what everyone thinks it is. It's much worse. What will happen once she comes along and finds out that she is a shadow hunter herself like her mother and learns about the shadow world. What will happen when they find out Valentine is still alive and has Jocelyn Fray; Clary's mother. They and The Clave will do anything to get their hands on the Mortal Cup; the most important thing in the shadow world. Before downworlders do, better yet before Valentine does.
