What El would give to stop running, what she would sacrifice for just one minute of freedom from being scared, just one minute to get away from all the pain.
She couldn't stop the unwanted memories that plagued her mind, making her that same little girl in her memories. The same useless, and scarred little girl.

"You son of a bitch! No good wife!" A little girl cowered in the corner covering her ears, squeezing as tight as she could against her head. Forcing her eyes to shut. In hopes of blocking out the fight.
That was until the deafening sound of skin hitting skin took the little girl out of her thoughts. She screamed hoping to divert his attention away from her.
"Leave her alone! She didn't do anything wrong! Don't be so mean!" The little girl screamed.
"You shut up or you'll be next!" He pointed a menacing finger at her,
His figure swung before her face, she closed her eyes tight, waiting for the sting on her cheek, but seconds later she realized it did not touch her. She adjusted her eyes to the light once again and saw the older woman pushing him away. Hard enough to make him stumble back, but only a step or two.
"Don't you dare touch her! Do what you want to me, but don't you dare fucking touch her." Her voice never wavered when saying these words, in fact her voice was the strongest in saying these words.
These words only angered the man more. Yet he didn't touch the woman, or the little girl.
"Have fun raising this little bitch, who isn't even yours. Because from now on you do it all on your own!"
"Of course she is mine!" She looked at him with fury in her eyes, "We never needed you anyways."
"Good." And with that, it was over. Just as quickly as it started.
