The place is open and bare to the people, and Eleri is forced to deal with the fact of it. She lives on a farm; at least once did until she was pulled down a rabbit hole into bloodied hands with a hatchet blade to her neck. The boy was reported missing, lost in a fire after the killing of his father. He was looked down upon the people, thought by as a threat. He twitched, sputtered, and no matter how many fights and damages he got into; the boy couldn't feel a thing.
Eleri only heard little of him, all of it bad. She wanted no part of him when in the schoolhouse. But, was forced part with him after the incident. With her own dreams set high, far too high, she was pulled down by him.
