A girl in a white veil, the forest calls her to itself. She will be lost in it forever. A quiet voice, a whisper leads his bride far away. Somewhere there stands an old castle, a cursed prince dwells within its walls. When the full moon rises in the night sky, the monster awakens. The white veil of the bride turns crimson. A story as old as time. Nereyeny ran towards the forest as if her life was at stake. She hesitated for a moment before crossing the line of no return. She looked back at the place where she had grown up, lived, and was supposed to die and lie in the ground there forever. All her life layed there, everything except the one thing she longed for the most. Freedom. "Nereyeny!" They were already looking for her. She couldn't afford to hesitate any longer. She turned on her heel and stepped into the darkness. She knew that no one would dare to chase her there. Only a fool. People were afraid of the cursed forest. Eyes watching your every step. Whispers leading you into the void. Creatures from the depths of hell itself. They say dark forces dwell there, no one who goes in will ever come out. And Nereyeny was proof that it was all a lie, spending almost every day there, running under the treetops like a wild wolf. She didn't believe those tales. About the full moon. About the proud prince. About the curse. Until she too became one of those lost in its bowels. Trapped in the same trap as Prince Astreus, son of the Sun and the Moon. A proud prince, real, made of flesh and blood, who is not at all like she has heard of him. At least the fairy tales are wrong about one thing. And maybe they are wrong about everything. Secrets, pride, the whims of the gods, and maybe even fate itself. A burnt-out faith in breaking the curse. Nereyeny must now find a way out before the next full moon comes and the monster finds her.

Legend of the Torchbearer - Book One Most children are lulled to sleep by softly sung lullabies or the sound of snoring family members, I fell asleep to the roar of dragon-song thundering through the mountain known as Beinn Na Nathrach; named for the creatures who first made it their home. Dragons roamed the world long before men, and at their height, nobody could have foreseen their downfall. Now Beinn Na Nathrach is the last nest, and the riders of Dùn Ceò - the ancient fortress carved into the mountainside - are the crumbling remnants of a once noble and powerful sept of armies the world over. As an orphan brought up within the walls of a dragon keep, following orders and watching the riders train is as close as I'll ever get to joining their ranks. Life for me is laid out as a servant, with my place secure as the ward of one of the commanders. I can see it ahead of me; the years of mucking out stables, fetching food, mending clothes and equipment, when all my heart aches for is to know how it feels to see wings stretched out either side of me. Yet the monotony of life is shaken when a hatchling is found in the forest, and rumours of rebellion in the most Northern villages begin to spring up. But why would a few unruly farmers require an entire contingent of well-armed soldiers who seem overly interested in the goings on in Dùn Ceò? If the hatchling didn't come from the last known nest, where did he come from? And what does it have to do with a legend told as a bed time story?

When Arabelle gets curious and sneaks into a forbidden area of the castle, she discovers a deadly secret: her bloodline is sacred, dating back to a legend surrounded by the one thing she knows not to be true. Unsure what to do, she gets caught up in a series of events that lead to her being hidden and whisked away from the only familiar place she knew. WATTY'S 2022 SHORTLIST🏅A Qing Dynasty Snow White fairytale retelling with a Princess Mononoke twist. Featured on @Wattpad's Fantasy Adventures reading list and @WattpadExplorer. ***** Snow is anything but the submissive princess the Jade Palace expects her to be. Her foster mothers find her impossible, her royal tutor labels her incorrigible, and she recently threatened to shave her head if she were forced to marry. When the Empress presents her with an opportunity to go on the imperial spring hunt with the princes and her not-so-secret crush, Prince Erden, Snow jumps at the chance. Who knew that that would lead to an assassination attempt, a harrowing escape, and her getting hopelessly lost in a dark forest during a thunderstorm--with no survival skills whatsoever. The only things she has to help her survive are lots of moxie and latent magical powers she inherited from her deceased mother. Oh, and an ethereally white fox that led seven old dwarves to her. With the Empress's malicious intent now revealed, Snow must discover her true strength, who her mother really is, and what magical powers she wields, in order to find her way back to Erden. If she fails, she might never see him again and die a lonely old crone in the mountains. . . or get murdered anyway when the bloodthirsty Empress--said to have fantastical powers of her own--comes for Snow.
