Sang's father walked out on them less than a year after they moved to Charleston and she is left with her irresponsible older sister and mentally unstable mother.

Since her mother is too sick to work she charges Sang rent each week.

Due to her mother's demand that she be home by five every day, it is impossible for her to continue high school.

It's not easy to find a job when your a high school drop out, are technically a minor and don't have any valid identification.

She often has to resort to pickpocketing to make ends meet. What will happen when this catches the attention of the Academy and the Toma Team are brought in to handle it.

The story is meant to examine what it would be like if Sang was the main character of the Scarab Beetle series, both the Scarab Beetle and Ghost Bird series belong to C. L. Stone.

The Bird That Couldn't Sing (GBFF) by tori_maye
60 parts Complete Mature
{Completed} A lost soul in a sea of anguish and confusion, Sang floats alone, and the treacherous waters around her are starting to consume her; she's beginning to sink. In fact, she's been slowly sinking further and further into those dark depths since she was a child--ever since the abuse began. Ever since her voice was stolen by her stepmother-a jealous, envious woman who wanted what Sang Sorenson had-what the evil woman hadn't: a voice like an angel. Sang's voice is gone, the only thing she ever truly cherished. And she's starting to drown in the waters that have been rising rampantly inside her chest, but can she be saved? Is there hope for a rescue boat? Can a group of nine handsome, loving, charismatic boys be the reason Sang Sorenson rises to the surface? Will they be her life jacket, or an anchor to drag her further into the profound depths below? Can the bird without a voice finally sing once again? ❤ This is an Academy fanfic. I don't own any of these characters. They are all creations of the amazing C.L. Stone, and they all belong to her. Though, you don't have to read 'The Academy' series to understand this book. It can definitely be read as a stand-alone. ❤ Warning! Be warned, there is mature content in this book (i.e. most likely sexual content, swearing, and abuse). So, if you're uncomfortable with that, then don't read this. Also, this book will get worse before it gets better. (It starts off pretty sad.) But there is a happy ending and LOTS of love! 😉😁

In The Shadows - Fan Fiction Version by Katydids

73 parts Complete

This story is the fanfiction version of In The Shadows written by the amazing Katydids. It is now an original, with a completed first book and the beginning of a second. While the fanfic version is similar to her original with some of the characters and basic plot, not everything is the same. Katy is graciously allowing me to post this here. When Sang's father dies, she and her mother move away to her grandparents. There she meets a group of guys that live down the road who are so much more than they seem. Soon, Sang's world is rocked with a revelation that changes all she's every known about herself and her family. And with this revelation comes a danger that she may not be equipped to deal with. What happens when the world you thought you lived in isn't anything like it seems? This is a fanfiction of The Academy: Ghost Bird series by CL Stone. All characters and rights go to her. No money is intended to be made off of this story. We just like to play in her world.
