City Lights

"Fucking hell, Bernadette."

I throw Alaric a smile, pulling myself up to the next ring.

"Come on, live a little."

He peers up at me, a frown gracing his features.

"Get the fuck down before you fall. I don't want to deal with a broken Bernadette right now."

"Then come and get me." I taunt.

Alaric runs an irritated hand through his hair before taking the first ring.

"If I die, this is on you. Trust me when I say you won't like the punishment." He acknowledges, his voice almost breathless as he climbed the ladder.

"Hm, that's a little kinky."

"You'd be the type to like it."

My mouth drops open and he shoots me a smirk.

"Look at that, I left you speechless." Alaric hauls himself up onto the ledge of the flat roof next to me.

"You wish."
