I was standing in the middle of the fire, whispering to the fire that always answered. Letting it grow and dance the way it wanted to. It was weird to have all of this fire around you and not have it burn or touch your fragile skin. With each match and whisper the fire grew, but yells found my ears. My name was screamed into the smoke. No, there couldn't be anyone here? I thought I was alone. I am always alone. This is Hazel, she is a normal girl who has a normal life. The moment she noticed her handler forgot to lock the door behind him, she wasted no time making a run for it. There's only one problem though. She had no clue where she was. Surrounded by endless trees she was stripped of having any sense of direction but that didn't stop her motives. The girl began her journey and ran for what felt like hours, stumbling upon a small abandoned home camouflaged deep in the woods. No second thoughts, she took shelter. Soon it's discovered that the home was indeed not abandoned but already claimed by someone. Remi has always loved the forest, the different sounds, smells, the way she could get lost in it and never have to go home to her non-existent parents. She goes in and out of her life with her best friend everyday just waiting until they're both old enough to leave their small boring town. But one day Remi is attacked, and nearly killed, by a man in the forest. When she wakes up everything's different. She feels something inside her, a power, but she has no idea what happened to her. All she remembers is the man's strange yellow eyes. When three new boys show up at her school, one with yellow eyes, asking her question she gets nervous. The Dark Clay pack has a tradition. Once a year all the 18 year olds trek to the boarder of the Black Water pack. A very powerful pack and their closest neighbor. A simple task cross the border and make it back touching a tree the goal. Its silly. Pointless to an onlooker but to the young adults who partake it is a thrill, a right of passage. This is where we meet Mini. A little wolf with a lot to prove. Her run however does not go as planned when a member of the Black Water pack catches her. What will happen to our little Mini?
