This story is taken place in the future, where a new world called Virtuality is created. Those of the ages 11-25 are forced to live here. Even though this world seems wonderful, there is a catch. Whatever happens there happens in Reality. If you brake your arm in the virtual world, the machine that you are connected to breaks your real arm. Live through the main character's point of view, and see how cruel this world can really be.

"In the not-so-distant future, where the boundaries between the real world and the virtual one blur into obscurity, a group of audacious teenagers dares to defy the status quo. Welcome to a world where pixels are the new reality, and the metaverse is king. Meet Alex, a tech-savvy misfit with a rebellious spirit, who stumbles upon a hidden secret that could shatter the digital illusion. It all starts innocently enough with a glitch in the code, a whisper of something amiss in the flawless façade of their virtual existence. But as the anomaly beckons, curiosity turns to obsession, and Alex can't resist the urge to unravel the truth. Joined by a diverse crew of fellow hackers, gamers, and digital outlaws, they embark on an electrifying quest to pierce the veil of the virtual world. Along the way, they'll encounter enigmatic AIs, navigate treacherous dungeons, and unearth cryptic messages left by a shadowy figure known only as "The Architect." As the lines between their augmented reality and the tangible one blur, they must confront a stark reality: some secrets are better left buried in the code. The future of humanity hangs in the balance, and the clock is ticking. But in a world where the digital and physical collide, where virtual friends become real allies, Alex and their companions are about to discover that their rebellion against the virtual regime has far-reaching consequences they could never have imagined. Will they unveil the ultimate truth, or will the digital realm consume them before they can break free? One thing's for sure: The revolution begins here."

Elodie's life changes at the turn of a doorknob when she is forced into joining a secret organization that claims to be protecting the Earth from aliens. But with every step she takes, she finds the organization, or the facility, as they call it, becoming more and more suspicious. When a mysterious death occurs, revealing a well-concealed secret, things quickly go downhill as humanity's future is placed on the shoulders of a single gaggle of teenagers. *** I hear a sigh from the other side of the door, "Miss. Chaucer, you have a wonderful opportunity here, are you going to take it or not?" Now, I am seriously confused, "Opportunity?" She takes advantage of my befuddled state and shoves the door open. Shit. The corners of her mouth pull up, and it's so unnatural, it takes me a moment to realize she's smiling. Major plastic surgery? Probably. Click. Did she just lock the door? She locked the door! I spring towards the house phone, dusty from years of doing absolutely nothing, so I can call the police. I don't make it. Halfway there, I trip on my own pant-leg and face plant on the floor. The woman steps over me and retrieves the phone. She looks at it as if it's a foreign object, "This won't be necessary. All I want to do is talk to you." For some reason, instead of screaming, I stay silent. She smiles and pulls out a chair from the kitchen table for me to sit on. When I don't sit, she says, "If you want to know what's going on, then sit." I think about it for a moment. She hasn't hurt me yet, and I have to admit, I am quite curious as to what's going on. So, call me stupid, but I sit down. "I am from a space organization that protects civilians from . . . outside threats." *** Beautiful cover made by @mahana258! I have sat often in front of the computer, and stared long at the screen without ever writing a word. The synopsis for this project has haunted me since the first person asked me "So, what is it about?", and to this day I have never been able to deliver a straight answer. This book is about a number of things, many of which do not fit evenly into a succinct description. I have tried to make them fit and have found the resulting descriptions ill-representing and dull. Thus, I have decided to go without a description. This book will fade into obscurity no matter what I put here, so I might as well write what's really important. Winter in a city is an especially punishing time. This book comes out of my late nights and early mornings riding the train, and my looking at the window and being able to make out nothing but the blur of the glass. From the outside it may look dead, but certain people know that the inner workings of a city are a true marvel to behold. In writing this, I have tried to capture that marvel and deliver it to you, the reader. This is a book about a city and the people within it. The rest is up for you to read, if you so choose. Pyre lives on whether you experience it or not. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A science-fiction novel, updated whenever there is new material to post. The last cover was AI generated, so I spent some time making a crude cover of my own. For the sake of Wattpad I have divided up the chapters into parts, so everything under "The Glow" is Chapter 1 and so on. If you have read this far into the description, I thank you; you've made it further than mostly everyone before you. I hope you stick around. ⠀⠀
