Passing Notes

"Do you think we could talk outside of class?" He scribbled enthusiastically and passed it back to her

He watched her eyes read over it repeatedly, widening each time. He started to panic, he was listening more to the heavy beating of his heart rather than his head.

He watched her pen slowly write on the back of the note before she passed it

"Not sure it would be possible."

Fifteen year old Laurel Davis has been mute since she was five, with an incident she would rather not discuss. She hides out in the quiet spots at school.

Dalton Leslie is captain of the basketball team, student council member and most popular guy at school. He has the 'sexiest' popular girl Shannon almost begging to go out. But he can't help but have his attention drawn to the quiet, pretty girl in front of him in Maths. Within an instant he sets his sights on talking to her.

And Laurel panics. Desperately not wanting him to know while still keeping a relationship she plays cat and mouse with him, making sure they never get the opportunity to speak. But will Dalton get sick of the cat and mouse game or will he finally catch his mouse?
