Music is a part of life, a part of who we are. You can go anywhere in the world and music will follow you. You can't escape it. Whenever you hear a song, it makes you wonder, is this song meant for me? Is this the song that represents who I am, shares the same feelings and emotions I feel?
That's what I want. I want to find my song.

***

Jessica Burns is in her last year of high school. She wants to be someone the world listens to. Literally. The problem is, she can't make any music. She has no friends, that is, unless you count her twin brother. Her parents are never home. When her brother suddenly discovers something that will change both of their lives, she will have to jump out of her comfort zone to protect their future.

Jason Crosswell is the schools popular musician. He's always been someone that everyone stops and listens to. But he has a shadow over his past, and even though things look much brighter now, that shadow is slowly creeping up on him, threatening to devour everything he holds dear.

Can Jessica save Jason from his past? Will Jason help Jessica achieve break she needs? Or will her voice forever be silenced?

"I see the world and it seems like I see it so differently than most other people. It makes me really angry most of the time. Especially since no one ever listens to me or what I've got to say. I try to express myself in so many different ways and no one sees it. When I sing a song people will only care about how the music sounds or how much I swore. If I paint, people will see the picture but not the meaning. It seems so obvious to me but everyone just seems to... close their eyes. Or at least shut off their brain. As if I see things they don't. But when they don't listen, how can I communicate that to them? It's so frustrating." Allie is a high school student and has big plans to make the world a better place. But her own head is pitting against her, throwing rocks in her path on a daily basis. Everything seems to be great for a while but what happens when her world suddenly comes crashing down around her? Can she ever recover? A coming-of-age story that deals with mental ilnesses, grief, first loves and family, briefly taps into the subject of religion and will likely enrapture you. Trigger warning: mental illnesses, self harm, death, dealing with grief, mentions of guns and gun control, mentions of cults, mentions of homophobia, dissociation. Names of bands, band members and song titles have been changed but at this point I want to credit mainly Palaye Royale, the band 'Homesick Soldiers' that is mentioned throughout is heavily based off them, but I'm sure if you're familiar with them you would have been able to tell that :)

He could play a range of instruments, from the electric guitar to his violin. He lived, ate, and breathed music and was on track to becoming the orchestra's lead violinist. He was ready to become one of history's best composers. But he decided to place his dreams on hold for a while when he found out that his dad, the CEO of Amity Industry, was diagnosed with stage three lung cancer. His dad's death was expected, but the way he died wasn't. After the reading of the will, Dylan is faced with the harsh reality that you don't always get what you want. Following a short period of grief, Dylan is thrust into a world of business, responsibilities, and guardianship. He never wanted to be CEO, but now he has to because it's what his dad wanted. He also never expected to be Amber's, his thirteen-year-old sister's, legal guardian. Dylan has to put his dreams aside as he learns to navigate his new life without any experience of being a CEO or a guardian. Without a guide, Dylan is bound to feel lost, but maybe Rose could help. Maybe she could teach him how to deal with it. ••• Sneak Peek: "You know what, Amber? At least I'm fucking trying!" I gritted out, meeting her eyes that practically blazed with fury. "Yeah! Trying to act like papa. But guess what, Dylan, you never cared about me or what I did!" She screamed, taking steps back towards the stairs. "You never cared when I was a baby, you didn't care when I was a toddler, and guess what! You don't care now. You're only pretending to care to make yourself feel better. But you don't! No one fucking cares."
