Quinn Tsai is anything but your a-typical teen. She's been the poster child for diversity since birth. Her moms' have always encouraged her to be different and engage in diverse activities and groups to stand out, but all Quinn ever wanted was to fly under the radar and be unnoticed. Unfortunately, that isn't quite possible for her as she finds herself in and out of inpatient facility treatment centers after a catastrophic meltdown during class. As she struggles to find balance in her life after being diagnosed with MDD, she starts to question if she's broken beyond repair.

Kaleb Stephenson has lived his entire life undetected. He's your average 17-year-old boy, who lives a very average life, except with a dark secret he has hidden for his entire life. Kaleb thrives off of routine and hates the unpredictable. His life so far has been very routine until one day he meets Quinn, who poses a huge risk to his routine life.

Can Kaleb actually help Quinn find normality? Will Quinn be able to understand Kaleb's need for routine? An unlikely pair find themselves tied to each other by fate. Will they sink or swim? A Happy Kind of Goodbye follows the unlikely duo as they come to terms with what it means to be anything but normal.
