Trong một tương lai không xa 3 ông lớn gồm Mỹ, Nga và Trung Quốc đã xây dựng nên cả một đế chế siêu máy tính khủng dưới lòng đất và ngấm ngầm tự châm ngòi chiến tranh với nhau dưới ấy mà người trần mắt thịt phía trên không hề biết gì cả. Cuộc siêu chiến tranh đó khép lại bằng việc hệ thống máy tính của Mỹ là AM (Allied Mastercomputer) đã nuốt trọn luôn cả hai kẻ đối đầu Nga-Trung vào mình rồi sau đó đại khai sát giới toàn nhân loại, đơn giản vì nó đã quá căm ghét con người. Thế nhưng AM không giết hết toàn bộ, nó để lại 5 người sống sót (4 nam và 1 nữ) để tra tấn và hành hạ thể xác lẫn tinh thần. Câu chuyện của chúng ta bắt đầu từ sự kiện đó đúng 109 năm sau!

Technobabble by dougom

During the filming of "Star Trek: The Next Generation", there would frequently come times when the story called for the characters (and in the early days, it was often that bane of Trekkies everywhere, Wesley Crusher, the Platonic Ideal of Dork) to fix some far-future technical problem. Which means said characters had to employ far-future tech. Which by definition hasn't been invented yet. What happened over the course of the series was that they engaged a couple of people to be in charge of continuity and technology, and the script writers would insert into the scripts, "[technobabble here]", leaving the staff TechGeek to insert the proper futuristic-sounding tech gibberish. You know: Stuff that sounds realistically scientific, but is really just verbal handwaving. "Tachyon fields"; "Inertial dampers"; and so on. Welcome to my non-fictional, non-Star Trek, highly-idiosyncratic take on tech, tech-related topics, and sometimes random stuff that's just obliquely related to tech that was triggered by me reading or hearing or seeing something that happened to drift through the wide-open transom of my brain and get stuck there. Some of the items you will see here are funny, some I hope are thought-provoking, some could probably be filed under the hashtag of #DougRant, filtered through what my life-partner calls my "weird perspective". If you enjoy reading them, then they will have served their purpose. So read on and, hopefully, enjoy!

There were two huge arms wrapped around me like chains as I stared at the window blankly. "Mate, I can still feel your dislike towards me. Tell me, what should I do to gain your affection. I'll do everything you say or buy anything for you. I love you, mate. Name it" I stared at his wolf eyes filled with love which made my heart churn. I pressed my urge to puke and stared blankly at him. "Free me" "I told you. I'll never leave you. How dare you think about going away mate. I'll fuck you so hard that you won't be able to step out of the bed. Then you'll carry my pups. Let's see how you'll deny my love" He growled angrily. In a minute. I was lying under him naked... It physically and mentally drained them until they just one day gave up. I never thought it would happen to me since it doesn't ever actually happen. We all knew better. Unfortunately my human mate did not. Caden watched me from where he sat, he knew what I was thinking, and was thinking the same himself. We didn't know how much time I had. "Well, I for one, as Alpha, would not mind a human in our midst if she is your mate." I let a small chuckle slip out and leaned back in my chair, crossing my arms. "Is it because you're so accepting of humans, or because you insist on having me as your Beta?" Caden smirked at me, "Does it matter?"

Some people still believed in god and had faith in him, I didn't know what I believed in but I prayed like everyone else that I would get through another day without hearing the soul crushing word 'Mate'. Do not read this summary or book if you have not read Book One) I listen closely through the static on the radio, trying to hear the emergency broadcasting message. An electronic voice repeated over and over, "This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department. It is advised to stay indoors and to remain inside if at all possible. Have enough food for one to two weeks. Do not come in contact with anyone outside of your household. This message is transmitted to you through the North Carolina Police Department." I scoff to myself. I know this will not be over in a mere two weeks. - - - - - Terminar; The Latin word for Terminate. Definition: To bring to an end. Brittany Slater was free. She had finally escaped the island that she now calls Hell. But there were so many loose ends. Why had her father destroyed all of his research? His factory? His life's work? Why had he given her a chance to live? Well, she got her answer. Upon arriving to North Carolina, she was thrown right back into Hell on Earth.
