This is a sample of the first five chapters. If you wish to read more please go and check out my book. Fifteen year old Mitchell Turner has been living a semi-normal life in River Falls, Virginia, a safe peaceful town where nothing supernatural could ever exist or happen. At least, it used to. For four months, Mitch has been living under the protective care of his new foster family, who has provided him love, care, and support. There were no evil hunters to ruin his life. No demons to steal his soul. No ghosts, vampires, or witches trying to kill him. No insane doctors attempting to use him as their next guinea pig. No powers to corrupt his fortune. Life was good. Until one fateful day. Mitch's whole world suddenly gets flipped upside down and he has no choice but to go back to a life he has tried so hard to escape from. But what's that old saying? The past comes back to kick you in the behind. Well, he has no choice but to deal not only with the supernatural influences again, but also with an agency he's not sure he can trust, a girl he has a strong connection to, all while dealing with unfortunate visions that may just be his downfall as he attempts to save the life of a girl who desperately needs his help, all while trying to maintain a normal life. Can he find and rescue her before she winds up like her deceased mother? Or will his new crippling abilities cause too much havoc and cause him to lose his sanity?

On her first day of her second year, Maya starts hearing the rumors. They're impossible to ignore, whispers in the halls, sideways glances, and soft giggles when Leo walks by. His name always seems to come up in the same breath as tragedy. It's like everyone knows the details but no one will talk about them, like there's a dark cloud hanging over him. Some say it was an accident, others think it's something worse, but either way, Leo's the one you don't want to get too close to. Maya, however, isn't the type to shy away from rumors. Especially not when they start eating at her curiosity. There's something about Leo that pulls her in, like a puzzle she can't solve. She's been struggling with a hole in her life, the loss of someone she cared about, someone who's been gone for far too long. Desperate for answers and willing to do anything, Maya ends up making a deal. It's one of those things you hear about in hushed tones, something that sounds almost too unreal to be true, but she doesn't care. All she wants is for them to come back, and the cost? Well, she figures she'll deal with that later. But just as she's about to seal the deal, Leo shows up, like some kind of reluctant hero. He tries to save her, to break the bargain before it's too late, but his intervention backfires. The deal takes its toll on her in a way she never expected, half of her soul gets torn away, scattered across town. To make things worse, part of the demon that tricked her takes root inside her, filling the void and granting her powers. But it's not all gifts. With those powers comes the threat of losing who she is, of being consumed by the very thing she tried to control. Maya is left with a terrifying choice: use the powers to reclaim her soul or risk losing herself completely.

The Girl

30 parts Complete

Since Kendra's birth, her family has waited and watched. She was always cared for, but never truly a part of it all. That made her an outcast and a little bit of a burden. Kendra grew up questioning the purpose of her existence. Until the arrival of a witch, an undead soldier, and an envoy from the crossroad realm, unveiled everything the Leese family had tried to keep a secret: They all knew about the curse, and that she was chosen to carry it. Cover by @JoeResch Warning: Although the story fits Wattpad's rules and regulations and it is classified as "Everyone", there are several aspects that are factual about the story that need to be highlighted. "The girl" is a historical fantasy with traces of horror set in the Southern United States, shortly after the Civil War. There will be: * Discussions of the aftermath with some characters holding on to the political views of the South. * References to slavery. * Indirect and implied comments/act of a racist nature. Others include: * Loss of a child/still birth. * Medical procedures without anesthesia. * The level of violence is expected of a "creature feature" which includes psychological manipulation, murders and consumption of blood. * Adaptation of use and custom of spiritual practices/symbols/figure heads cherished by a number of religions, to fit a fantastic setting.
