Kate Winters had grown to be 12 when she hit her head on the diving board during a tournament. She got out of the water with a simple bruise on her head and she continued to dive for her team. Later the concussion is worse than it seemed.
This book is a serious of flashbacks. Throughout about the whole book it will be italic. When it isn’t italic it means there is no flashback.

Kate was used to dealing with unfair consequences. Having a less than ideal home life and no one else to support her, she had learned to deal with things on her own. She had learned not to feel and especially not to hope. So when someone new comes into her life Kate does the best thing she can think of, she shuts them out. But, after a series of events in the course of one day, they are thrown back together, and Kate is given the chance to explain herself. Explain why she was so guarded and why she had closed herself off in the first place. And maybe along the way Kate learns that things aren't always so bad. That feeling and hoping aren't the worst things in the world. ***Warning: Mention of abuse is included in this story. Please don't read if that is a trigger for you in any way.
