"As you can see, I have something I believe you may want back, though I suppose that is up for speculation." He said as he grabbed Cap's chin, turning his face from side to side. The Examiner gave a long thoughtful noise.
Steve jerked his face out of the man's grip. It wasn't until the man stepped away, that Tony could see that Steve was completely relying on his right leg. His left didn't seem to be bearing any weight at all.
"Well, let's not dwell on assumptions, hm? If you don't want him back, I'm sure I could find something to do with him."

Steve is captured by the underground terrorist group Sygma. They are willing to release to the Captain, but at a high ransom price, one the U.S. government might not be willing to pay. While the Avenger's work to find a way to get him back, Steve is subjected to experiments that make him question his own strength. When it appears he may have been sold out by someone whom he considers a friend, Captain America begins falling away to be replaced by a very broken Steve Rogers.
"A Tortured Soul" contains shameless Steve Whump and family Avengers. The team struggles to find out if they have a traitor in the gang. With everything going on, will they rescue their Captain before he succumbs to torture? Even if they do, will he ever be the same?

The cold water dripped inside on my cell, as the droplets hit my bare back, I could only shudder from the feel. I knew he would be back any given minute. He had another PR meeting with his team, Captain America, what a joke. If only they really knew who he was. A monster that Hydra cooked up. It's almost funny. How grief sneaks up on you. One second, you're fine; you're coping well and then it hits you like a bullet, tearing right through your heart, almost killing you on the spot. Grief is a monster that lies dormant in the darkest quarters of your mind, growing stronger and stronger until you can't fight anymore. Until you can't breathe. Peter was fractured. The monster having grown too big, and without any support left to hold him up, the world of drugs dug its claws into him. And it was slowly killing him, like a sickly sweet poison that dulled the pain while quietly feeding on his soul. He was powerless to stop it. He was too tired to stop it. Tony was doing pretty good.
