Agent 8 had awoken from a terrible state thanks to the Squid Sisters, Marie and Callie, along with their trending song, the Calamari Inkantation. This is how an Octoling was able to come to their senses, now living with all sorts of Inklings in the place known as Inkopolis. However, this sweet Octoling, now referred to as "Agent 8", has been stuck underground for quite some time with the one who provided the boy with his nickname, Cap'n Cuttlefish.
However, during his time down there, trying to escape, he'd begun a life with a worker known as Agent 3.

The team is on the case to find him but sometime into the search Inklings sharing some of 3's similarities are getting attacked and 3's apartment gets ransacked.
