The Battle City Tournament has just come to a close. Marik has been defeated, but this hasn't returned any of his victims from the Shadow Realm. Whilst watching over Mai, Joey encounters someone who will drastically change the course of events and the destiny of him and his friends forever.

Three years pass while Yugi is in more pain, only then his friends ask more about what is going on. Yugi won't tell them anything about it, but what happens when a familiar face returns.
