Diana Bennet can't figure out if her powers are a blessing or a curse.

Diana was never a dark, mysterious person. But at night, that was the basis of her persona. With the power to control darkness, mixed with whatever substance she was hit with behind a warehouse, sneaking up on criminals was easy. But just as she was getting the hang of heroism, some random guy called Spider-man shows up in her neighbourhood and absorbed half of the crime right up. That left Diana with more free time that she'd like.

But that meant it left her time to be her normal, yearbook-clubbing, hippie, Spanish-quiz failing self, and to reveal all the quirks that followed suit. Yearbook was the best for Diana- it was her getting involved, so it made her sister happy, and it was her taking pictures, so it made her happy too. And when paired with Peter Parker, Diana's intriguing, eccentric lab partner to take photos of upcoming school events, she finds out that happiness can come in more ways than one. Meeting Peter, on a totally unrelated note, made Diana's world flip and connect at the same time. Who was this kid, really? And why was he so... familiar?

(book 1) y/n stark is really not here for this european school vacation because in this post-endgame world, she's mourning the loss of her dad. but one (1) sticky boi peter parker is just trying to be the friend he once was while also trying not to flirt too much because if she rejects him (which she wouldn't, not that he knows that) while they're in venice holy hell he'll just pitch himself off the gondola right then and there. basically, y/n has been distancing herself & peter misses her & this school trip is a great way for him to coax her back into the real world & y/n really loves peter but is super sensitive and scared to lose him & also mysterio shows up at some point ugh @ nick fury leave ned leeds alone *this story was written prior to avengers: infinity war & spider-man: far from home coming out. therefore, the canon in which these characters live in is different from the mcu. in this canon - tony stark, captain america, & thor have all died. black widow & vision have survived. the decimation, where half the population was snapped from existence was erased with time travel so those who were snapped came back within online minutes, leaving some residual trauma. in this canon, those who survived the decimation only lived six months without those who were snapped, but those six months have been erased - leaving only the avengers to fully remember what happened.

He left behind his love life after Liz's Dad tried to kill him (who wouldn't), and focused on trying to impress his mentor and the team. He thinks he's safe from repeating any of those mistakes, until an unexpected visitor crashes into his life. Literally. Peter falls unceremoniously into a plotline that would take his emotions through the worst rollercoaster of his life. Peter had brought her alcohol, at 4 in the morning, when there was more chance they would be alone. He obviously listened to Sam and Clint after all, which meant that Bucky was right; he liked you. Your father and I are agents for a secret government organization called S.H.I.E.L.D.. My hope is that you will never become involved in their affairs. Our mission is to protect the world. Save lives. We were sent on a mission about a month ago to take down a Hydra base. You should have learned about them in history, but they are our enemies. Very few remain. With luck, by the time you are reading this, Hydra will be wiped off of the face of the earth for good. During our mission, we came across Hydra's experimentation on a baby. They had not gotten very far with their experiments and the two year old was still perfectly healthy and fully human. We took the baby back to S.H.I.E.L.D with us. As agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., your father and I have always known that we would never be able to settle down and raise a family. Of course we always have wanted children of our own, but being sent on missions every few months, it would be inconvenient and troublesome. But when we found the baby, we knew that she was our chance at having a family. That baby was you, Petra. You gave us the chance to be parents.
