For years, Deila Kymiir dreamt of attending the extravagant and mysterious McCallum family gala. However, unlike others on the small island town, Deila couldn't be less excited for the fancy dresses and delicious food. All she wanted was the truth behind her mother's mysterious death, where all signs point to the McCallums being the cause. So when her invitation came in the mail, she knew it was time to investigate.

Finally getting a chance to look around, she attempts to find the answers she's desperately craved. However, her investigation gets cut short when she's caught by the McCallums and thrown through the gate into an unknown world. One that reminded her of the scandinavian folklore her mother would describe to her as a child. Now, forced to pretend to be her mother in fear of the manipulative King Enzor of Echoria, Deila is dropped in a dangerous game of cat and mouse. She must balance learning about her secret fae heritage while surviving under the forceful rule of the king- or else she may never make it home.

Gwyneth had always felt connected to her faith, a higher power presiding over her. That faith had shaken that devastating day those years ago, the day that went on to haunt her every nightmare for years to come. She's still trying to come back from it, to not only restore her faith in life and love, but her faith in herself. The sanctity of her spirit- she prayed for resolve. Every punch was a prayer. Every mile was a hymn. Until her knuckles bled and her knees gave. Azriel had been surrounded by darkness his whole life, a poison on his world, on his being. He exercised restraint in his every waking moment, banishing that darkness within himself. Some guessed of the strain it put on him, but no one knew the extent of it, how deep his scars ran. It was better this way, he was sure. He had always thought that if there were a higher power- which he wholly doubted- such deities must loathe him to have burdened him such darkness. He hadn't much faith in the gods anyway, much less faith that he could sway their opinion on him. But Gwyneth and Azriel did have one thing in common: the quiet fight within themselves. They only knew one way: to go about it alone, couldn't fathom letting another in. But there's a magic in finding someone who is your equal but opposite, something transforming. And frankly, Gwyneth and Azriel could both use a little magic. All characters owned by SJM in the ACOTAR series. Story takes place after the events of ACOSF. Aligns with the events in my other fic: A Storm of Flames and Deceit. I haven't finished Crescent City, so this story takes place outside of the events of those books as well. Shattered Crown by FaithfulStoryteller
30 parts Complete
Lira has lived her entire life as an outcast in the palace, under the cruel thumb of her stepmother, Queen Isolde, who rules the kingdom with an iron fist. Raised as an orphaned noble, Lira was told that her parents were mere servants who died when she was young. She has been repeatedly told that she has no power or potential. Her stepmother constantly belittles her, while her stepsister, Anya, delights in tormenting her at every opportunity. What Lira doesn't know is that she's the true heir to the throne-her real parents were the beloved king and queen, murdered by Isolde, their treacherous servant, who has claimed the crown for herself. To ensure Lira never threatens her reign, Isolde has kept her true identity hidden and has suppressed Lira's latent magical abilities, which would make her an unstoppable force. As Lira grows older, strange things begin to happen around her-faint whispers in the wind, flickering lights, and moments where time seems to stop. When a mysterious stranger arrives in the kingdom with knowledge of her past, Lira's world begins to unravel. Slowly, she starts to uncover the truth about her heritage, her powers, and the dark secret that could change the fate of the kingdom. But as she inches closer to discovering the truth, Isolde tightens her grip on the throne, sending her loyal followers to silence Lira forever. With her magic awakening and enemies closing in, Lira must decide whether to fight for her rightful place as queen-or let the darkness consume her before she ever has a chance to reclaim the crown.
