This is a short narrative story that was inspired by Jaylon McKenzie. This story is NOT based on what actually happened. Small details are true but for the most part I was just touched by his story and this is how I wanted to express it. RIP love ❤

In Graymont, Texas, football isn't just a game-it's everything. Under the Friday night lights, futures are decided, and the only way out of town is through a perfect play. Tatum Kincaid has spent his life chasing that future. As Graymont's star quarterback, the NFL is within reach-until an injury in the first game of the season throws everything into question. Now, his only shot at getting back on the field rests in the hands of Dr. Carter, the town's physical therapist. And Sloan Delaney. Sloan has never cared about football-not the way the rest of Graymont does. She's spent her life being "Carson Delaney's little sister," the girl everyone expects to love the game because her brother made it to the NFL. But all Sloan wants is to finish senior year, work her shifts at Dr. Carter's clinic, and get into Harvard Med-no distractions, especially not Tatum Kincaid. They were childhood best friends once, but years of distance turned them into something else-familiar strangers. Now, forced into close quarters, Sloan is stuck dealing with Tatum's relentless charm, his cocky grins, and the way he always seems to get under her skin. Because no matter how much he annoys her, she's never really stopped looking at him the way she did when they were kids. And Tatum? Well, maybe football isn't the only thing worth fighting for. But in a town that breathes football, love and ambition don't always play by the same rules. And some plays? They're left unfinished.

Finding relationships is easy... Keeping them is the real game. That's what I'm learning in my first one. It's not easy. Our rival schools are an hour apart, my best friend's turning secretive, my parents are controlling, and my brother's still an ass, gearing toward winning the state championship, and still doesn't like my boyfriend, Logan. I get it, they're rivals, and I kinda feel like Logan's team might be better but this season will decide. Being the star rival quarterback's girlfriend brings big rumors and big drama, especially when elements of our pasts resurface - his jaded ex whatevers, and the secrets I thought I'd buried and moved beyond. All of this while I just want to figure out where to go for college and what for. Some relationships will always stand the test of time and distance, while others crumble by the time the high school dust settles. I hope Logan and I are in the former because I'm falling hard for him. Really hard. Forever love hard. Story is ongoing with frequent updates. Please add it to your reading list! "All week, you've been on my mind, and I can't make it go away. Finally, after suffering in silence for so long at the thought of your lips, your laugh, and your smile..." Aaron trailed off, his eyes roamed my face. "All week?" I scoffed pulling away. "I've been in love with you for twenty years!" "We've been friends since childhood, and I've accepted that we're just not meant to be. I've tried to move on and you encouraged me to follow my dreams. I just... I didn't know that my dream was you." . ✧ . Bethany grew up in a small town in rural Alabama. Her older brother and her best friend had been the only closest people to her for years. Until they all graduated together and went their separate ways. Struggling to stay in touch with one another with their developing, adult lives. Years ago Bethany had fallen head over heels in love with the most popular guy in town, Aaron Russel. But confessing her feelings had always been something she would never do. After all Aaron was her best friend's brother who never gave Bethany a second thought. Or so she thought. Bethany had always been the typical nerdy girl without any fashion sense. And high school only enriched his popularity. And now almost a decade later they all have the opportunity to see each other again at their ten year high school reunion. Now Bethany had the chance to show everyone she grew up with how much she changed. Her thriving career out of state finally gaining confidence and sophistication transforming into a whole new woman. It took Aaron and Bethany some time to realize what they wanted and what they needed in life. And it took them even more time to confess who they were truly in love with.
