Kylie Monroe has always been able to see what lurks in the shadows.  She knows that supernatural creatures exist but has been ignoring it for years.  The shadows can take human form but she can tell who they are by their aura. It takes Kylie having her life in danger and making a new friend in vampire Archer Fairchild to make her train to fight.  He has been protecting Kylie while she finally accepted her destiny.  She meets Sebastian Blake after he break her out of the dungeon in the shadow realm.   Later, life takes her through twists and turns and meets Sebastian's fraternal twin brother Axel Blake.
