Ivy approached the thing laying in the ashes of the explosion. She cleared the cinders off of the object, revealing the soft gleam of a ruby stone. Not a stone, she realized, but an egg. "The heck?" she whispered to herself, crouching down in the crater. The girl cautiously touched the egg, feeling the cool material, but jumped back as it quickly heated up. "Crap!" Ivy yanked her fingertips back, observing the red blisters forming on her now damaged skin. She held her palm over the egg, scrunching her face in confusion when it was cold again. She brushed off the remaining ash and cinder, unearthing the scarlet oval shape.
"No..." she breathed, "I must be seeing things."
