El perfilador laboral es aquella persona que trabaja en recursos humanos de una empresa que basa su análisis a partir de los datos que se obtienen en una entrevista de contratación, de una base de registros de recursos humanos y de las conversaciones informales, así como de las observaciones a los candidatos. 

 
El perfil laboral es una técnica de investigación que permite al individuo predecir las características identificativas de un candidato a ocupar un cargo, analizando la evidencia psicológica o conductual obtenida con diferentes fuentes de información. Es personalizado y confidencial, sin descalificar a priori a quien se le practica, que bien pueden ser individuos o grupos de trabajo.
