He was a part of the raid and was trying to escape with the same vampires that killed him years ago. Soon, a new plan unravels that the vampires are returning to retrieve Luffy and will stop at nothing to get him back into their clutches, even if it means killing innocent villagers. The hunters know about this plan, but not that it's about Luffy.
