The Earth beneath our feet shaken
as the bombs rain down from the Heavens.
Mushroom clouds bloomed across our gaze
as the bamboo huts wet up ablaze.

Collective factual stories of the Vietnam war, Khmer(Cambodia) and "Secret War"(Lao) from my own personal experiences and from other South Asian refugees as well, basically from all angles.

The Adventures of Morley and Boots: The crew of the Leapfrog travel randomly about the galaxy in search of unique lifeforms to trap & trade. Intra-galactic poaching is profitable, but risky - like when an Evil Intergalactic Empire accuses you of capturing their Goddess, and you don't even know which critter she is! End Game: In an alternate near-future Indochina, Imperial France still rules, much to the chagrin of the local Siamese. Ratana's brother is captain of a premiere league football team, and a hero to the Siamese - and when he is booted from the squad to make space for the son of a powerful nobleman, it sets off a chain of events that could result in the toppling of the Empire. Self-Assembly Required: Human civilization has been almost entirely destroyed by a catastrophic plague of nanites, but one city remains, hidden and protected by Hydra, a team of all-female nano/human hybrids. Is the arrival of a roguish, lone-wolf mercenary a sign that human civilization is recovering, or the event that could destroy the few remaining survivors? The Woman from Mars: The robotic crew of the Basilisk thought humans were gone, long gone. But when they are sucked back in space and time to Jupiter's moon Europa in 2552, they discover a Viking civilization with the technology to rebuild human civilization - assuming the woman from Mars can complete her mission. Blasted Futures is a short story collection. All of these works have been written for The Pub's SciFi Smackdown, a contest in which contestants write Science Fiction stories meeting the specifications laid out by the smackdown's host, @ForbiddenPlanet. BLOOD AND ASHES

18 parts Ongoing Mature

The sky hangs heavy, thick with the promise of rain. A storm brews-not just in the heavens, but in the veins of Southeast Asia itself. Vince was never meant for this. Not the silk ties. Not the whispered deals over hundred-year-old whiskey. Not the polished smiles of men who once paid to see him bleed. He was a fighter, a rogue carving his name into the bones of the streets, but now-now he's trapped. The suit fits like a noose, the power a loaded gun pressed against his own temple. Play along, stay alive. That was the deal. But in the shadows of the Southeast Asian Summit, deals are meant to be broken. The air crackles with the tension of something about to snap. Old ghosts slip through the cracks, alliances shift like sand beneath his feet, and somewhere out there-watching, waiting-is Reika. His fire. His fury. His anchor in the storm. And when she finds out what they've done to him, what he's become, hell itself won't hold her back. The battlefield has changed. It's no longer fists against flesh, bones against concrete. It's a war of deception, fought in whispers, signed in blood behind closed doors. Vince has one shot to break free before the machine swallows him whole. But can you fight when the enemy has already crawled inside your head? And worse-what if this time, the storm takes him under for good?
