17 year old Kimberly Broden communicates through her photography because words simply aren't enough. Kim grows up trying to be two people. Herself and her twin sister who passed away at birth. It's not easy trying to find yourself and live in the shadows of another. Her parents are pretentious in public and secretive at home. What's going on with her family? and why can't she talk to people without her throat seizing up and her chest tightening? Enter Spencer Dobbs. 18 years old. Black hair, hazel eyes and dark skin. Not popular not nerdy, in fact, he's just average in every way. He needs extra credit for all his late absences at school. He's supposed to be in year 12 but he was held back a year due to bad grades and absent days from schooling due to working in his fathers auto shop. Mr. Jacobs the humorous photography club teacher, assigns Spencer to be mentored by Kim as she knows he needs help with his grades. She agrees only to find out he's not that interested in photography and she tries to ignore him, he notices and brushes it off thinking she probably doesn't want to help him. They have a photo project on family and he notices that she's struggling with it. He looks at some of her previous photography work and says in words exactly how he feels. She is surprised that he could say how he feels without feeling embarrassed. She suddenly has an epiphany. She can tutor him at school and he could help her express her feelings in words for their photography project! What will happen to Kim and Spencer while they learn more about each other? Can he help her overcome her lack of communication? will there be romance? and will she find out about her family's secrets? something is wrong here and someone's going to find out.
